Assalamualaikum
A lot of random things happened today and time and time again I found my self mumbling to myself… “Oh, it must be fate.”
For instance, this evening I was leaving uni with this girl and we were debating whether or not to take the streetcar to the next station or what to Queen’s park (which was a tad bit further..but hey, we’re lazy so it was significant for us). Finally, after some discussion and stuff we decided to take the street car down to the station which we thought would get us to home faster. So we headed for the streetcar stop and had to jog a little to catch it. We had been on the car for about 2 minutes when it stopped and we noticed a long line of street cars stuck infront of us. “Great!” said ms.Z. “We were so close to not taking the street car…grrr”. It’s true, we were close. But had we not decided to take the street car, we wouldn’t have witnessed the funny thing that happened next.
Our driver stepped out of the car and comes back in smiling and tells us that a homeless man with his shopping cart was on the road infront of the first streetcar and refused to move. It was such a strange explanation I wondered if the driver was pulling our leg. So me, and this girl, Ms. Z, decide to walk it to spadina being the silly ones that we are. And we go by where the homeless man is standin on the street and sure enough, there was this man, standing there with this shopping cart full of stuff refusing to move. SOme other man was with him too telling everyone not to touch him. A whole lot of ppl came out of the car just to persuade the man to get off the street. It was such a strange site. It doesn’t seem that funny now anymore, but at that time, it was, i swear it!
Fine, don’t believe me. -_-
So anyway, that was fate. We then got the next car at the next stop cause apparently the man decided to get off the street eventually.
Then we went to the station and i had just missed my train and thought “DARN! If I had wallked faster, I would’ve been on that.” Silly me.
WHen i got on the subway train, there were no seats to sit at so I stood. I saw this tall “big-n-bad” looking dude looking my way and I got all nervous. I tried not to make eye contact but he didnt quit. I got all nervous and started drinking water. At the next station, he approached me and asked, “Are you Farzana?” You can imagine my total shock. I managed to squeak out a, “Yeah, who’re you?” Then he went on to say how I attended some retreat with him way back in grade 11 at York U and then i remembered him. We spoke briefly at the two day retreat and all i really remembered of him was his afro and how he would randomly inquire about stuff i did. ie.During dinner at the retreat he asked, “You don’t eat swine, right?” and stuff liek that. I didnt even remember his name. He told me what it was and then we “caught up”.
That was fate too I think. I like meeting ppl I haven’t seen for a while. Especially when they remember my name and can recognize me on the train after like..3 years.
Oh boy, i wrote a lot. Must go and prepare for the lab test for tomorrow. BAH! It’s only 5%. pshhh!
pEACe,
